To reverse the effects of CLIMATE CHANGE we need your help.

Our Mission

Coral Reef Education Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our mission is to teach as many people as possible about the negative human impacts on our oceans and what the solutions are to those issues. Our goal is to restore, rehabilitate, and replant coral reefs in Hawaii. We are working to bridge the gap between government, scientists, and citizens. Coral Reef Education Institute provides online and in-person citizen science training programs, as well as a mobile response team to assist other communities around the globe in our mutual effort to preserve our precious ocean resources. These citizen scientists are trained to bring change in their communities and educate the like-minded.

We bring together a global network of scientists, ocean enthusiasts, and communities that are dedicated to the health of our oceans. Through a collective effort, we create solutions to protect, monitor, and restore our coral reefs. We understand the importance of the “it takes a village” concept, and create opportunities for people around the world to collaborate in this collective effort. Hawaii has a unique ocean ecosystem, so we are starting in our own backyard.

“As people alive today, we must consider future generations: a clean environment is a human right like any other. It is therefore part of our responsibility toward others to ensure that the world we pass on is as healthy, if not healthier, than we found it.”
